The Dressing Room Is 90% Finished!

Twelve days ago, I posted that I wanted to turn the sunroom off of our bedroom into a dressing room. It had been filled with all of the castaway items that no one knew where else to put them. I am happy to report that I have worked my tail off and it is almost completed! The maroon walls are gone and replaced with a basil green. The vanity has been updated with two coats of black paint and new knobs. The chair has been re-cushioned and a pink and white dresser has had a facelift with black paint and fabric covered drawers. The clutter is gone and items either found a new permanent home or off to the thrift store they went. I won’t be able to work on it again until after Easter, and I just couldn’t wait to show it off. Here’s the dreaded before picture:

And here’s some pics of what it looks like now:

Amazing, right? I am so very pleased with it. Here are the items that still need to be completed. The big dresser needs to be painted to match the vanity. The small dresser needs the legs painted and the light fixture needs to be swapped out. And then…done!

I thought I’d share some of the items I have repurposed as well: A votive holder turned jewelry stand. Two vases turned bracelet display. A wall picture frame holder turned jewelry organizer and a napkin holder turned wallet/hair care storage.  Always look for alternate uses for things that you love!

Proud momma moment: This is a poem my daughter wrote in 2004. She was only 12 at the time. I thought it was awesome. 🙂

I’ll post pics to show the complete room when all is done. LOVE when I can sit down at the end of the day and be exhausted from productivity!

About finefrugality

I am a wife, mother, business owner, farmer, foster parent, retired probation officer and so much more. :-) I love to save money any way I can. I just don’t see the sense in handing my cash over to someone else when I don’t have to. I coupon, I grow and can food, I reuse and repurpose items, I scour thrift stores and during the warmer months, my Saturday mornings consist of yard sales and our local farmer’s market with my husband. I have organized local meetings which include coupon swaps, barter clubs and swap meets. Here is where I begin to share this life with the rest of the world. This is Fine Frugality. Because being frugal is not only fine. It is FINE.

Oh Vicki, you did an amazing job. It looks like a professional did it! I love the green color and the patterns on the chair and the dresser! Give yourself a HUGE pat on the back!

WOW awesome makeover! love the color and the patterns. I’m in the process of making over every room in our house – we just moved in a few months ago so there is a ton to do. Plus I’ve found my taste has changed completely over the past few months which means I’m not really into my old stuff anymore… lol, so instead of buying all new, I need to get creative and repurpose all my old stuff to make it look new.

    love your blog.

    • Thank you so much! I’m in the same situation! hahaha I used to love Victorian, country…all sorts of things. My mindset has completely changed, so I’m starting upstairs and making my way down! I’m sure by the time I get downstairs, I’ll change my mind again. :-/ All of it has to be done on a budget too, due to college tuition payments. So, it will be a wonderful adventure. 🙂

  8. That is inspiring and amazing! Well done!!
