What Am I…Crazy?

Several weeks ago, a friend texted me and said “I just signed us up for the Grave Robbers Run”. Oh, did you now? The Grave Robbers Run is a spin off of the show The Amazing Race, that was being held in our town for the first time this year. It was built off of a local story in our history, ending with the head of an unknown male. (I won’t bore you with the details) Our goal was to find said head.

We were given clues along the way on where to go next, and all of the clues pertained to our town’s history. Luckily, we were able to use our smart phones! So our team of four women entered the race and just prayed to finish.

We ran around our town (ok…walked, jogged, trotted, tiptoed and meandered) for three hours, for a total of nine miles in search of a head. Well guess what! We dug it up and got back in time to take second place! Oh  yeah!! I couldn’t believe it. Our prize was $100, which we donated back to the charity having the run.

So there you have it…I may be a retired woman with some years under my belt, but I still got “it”! 🙂

About finefrugality

I am a wife, mother, business owner, farmer, foster parent, retired probation officer and so much more. :-) I love to save money any way I can. I just don’t see the sense in handing my cash over to someone else when I don’t have to. I coupon, I grow and can food, I reuse and repurpose items, I scour thrift stores and during the warmer months, my Saturday mornings consist of yard sales and our local farmer’s market with my husband. I have organized local meetings which include coupon swaps, barter clubs and swap meets. Here is where I begin to share this life with the rest of the world. This is Fine Frugality. Because being frugal is not only fine. It is FINE.

  1. That sounds like a lot of fun!

  2. Awesome! That sounds so exciting, I can’t wait to live in a smaller town one day where I wouldn’t be too afraid of shady people to sign up for something like this 😀 Congrats on 2nd place, and kudos for donating it back to the charity.
