March Foodie Photo-A-Day Challenge ~ In My Freezer

Today’s photo challenge subject is “In My Freezer”. Whenever I mentally (or physically) look into my freezer, I can’t help but smile. One of the first things I see is the lid to a can of stewed tomatoes that includes a little love (aka “la”) note from my husband. Two years ago, I was making a batch of stewed tomatoes and didn’t can them because it was my own recipe and hadn’t been tested. I opted for the freezer method instead. When I freeze things, I reuse old spaghetti, pickle or jam jars. Really any jars with a great fitting lid. My husband entered the kitchen while I was putting the lids on all the jars, so I handed him the sharpie and asked him to label the lids and put them in the freezer. The next time I opened up the freezer, this one stood out from all the rest.

You see, somewhere along the line, we got completely lazy when saying I love you, which got shortened to I La U. It’s been like that for years. Now every time I open the freezer, whether he’s here or not, my husband tells me that he loves me. I informed him last year that we are never eating that jar of stewed tomatoes. I la my la note!

About finefrugality

I am a wife, mother, business owner, farmer, foster parent, retired probation officer and so much more. :-) I love to save money any way I can. I just don’t see the sense in handing my cash over to someone else when I don’t have to. I coupon, I grow and can food, I reuse and repurpose items, I scour thrift stores and during the warmer months, my Saturday mornings consist of yard sales and our local farmer’s market with my husband. I have organized local meetings which include coupon swaps, barter clubs and swap meets. Here is where I begin to share this life with the rest of the world. This is Fine Frugality. Because being frugal is not only fine. It is FINE.
