March Foodie Photo-A-Day Challenge ~ Fruit

Today’s subject for the Photo-A-Day Challenge is “Fruit”. I like fruit. I didn’t always like fruit. Here’s what I think happens: We love fruit as children because it’s our first taste of something sweet. Then we somehow get introduced to candy and baked goods that are over-the-top sweet, so fruit takes a back seat. Let’s face it, there aren’t a whole lot of school kids choosing fruit as their go-to snack, which is a real shame. But there is hope. Those school children will then morph into parents themselves and will once again start eating fruit in order to be a good role model for their children. They will then realize the health benefits, learn how to create wonderful dishes out of fruit and gain a new found love for nature’s candy.

This is what is currently in my fruit basket. I keep the basket on my kitchen island to make sure fresh fruit is in plain view. I currently have organic apples, clementines (of course) and a few bananas. We also have fruit cups (packed in fruit juice) and frozen blueberries. Fruit. Learn to love it again. It’s just so darn good for you.

About finefrugality

I am a wife, mother, business owner, farmer, foster parent, retired probation officer and so much more. :-) I love to save money any way I can. I just don’t see the sense in handing my cash over to someone else when I don’t have to. I coupon, I grow and can food, I reuse and repurpose items, I scour thrift stores and during the warmer months, my Saturday mornings consist of yard sales and our local farmer’s market with my husband. I have organized local meetings which include coupon swaps, barter clubs and swap meets. Here is where I begin to share this life with the rest of the world. This is Fine Frugality. Because being frugal is not only fine. It is FINE.
