A Beautiful Thing

If you remember one of my previous posts “Surprise Deliveries“, you know that I am just so grateful for a lot of the people in my life. Knowing that I am surrounded by thoughtful people who will take a moment to let me know that they were thinking of me.

Well today, I had a huge surprise delivery from my daughter, Kelsey. She is a sophomore in college and is a very busy young woman. She is a full-time student, a member of a sorority and has recently started a new job, working up to 26 hours per week. Needless to say, she has a lot to concentrate on.

But that darling girl took time out of all of her life stuff to think of her mom. I received a package today from FedEx. The return address wasn’t familiar, but it came from the town where Kelsey resides. I opened it, and out poured the most colorful scarf and a card. On the front of the envelope was simply hand written “Mommy <3”. I happened to be on the phone with MY mom when I opened the card and started to read it. I immediately filled with tears when reading the words that expressed how much my baby girl missed me.

You see, I knew that yesterday she picked up her very first paycheck from her new job. To know that this card and scarf where some of the first things (if not THE first things) that she purchased with that paycheck…well, I can’t describe the feeling. She knows full well that it’s not the gift, but the thought behind it and her thoughts overwhelmed me. The card is perfect, the scarf is perfect and don’t tell her…but she’s pretty perfect too. We raised such a cool kid.

About finefrugality

I am a wife, mother, business owner, farmer, foster parent, retired probation officer and so much more. :-) I love to save money any way I can. I just don’t see the sense in handing my cash over to someone else when I don’t have to. I coupon, I grow and can food, I reuse and repurpose items, I scour thrift stores and during the warmer months, my Saturday mornings consist of yard sales and our local farmer’s market with my husband. I have organized local meetings which include coupon swaps, barter clubs and swap meets. Here is where I begin to share this life with the rest of the world. This is Fine Frugality. Because being frugal is not only fine. It is FINE.

  3. That is a very beutiful piece! Here is a link to a video of how to wear your gift nine different ways! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sty2P_m6CdA I am also a big fan of wearing scarves in your hair! What styles do you like?

    • That’s funny, I had pinned a similar piece on ways to wear scarves in your hair, on your head, etc. Today, I’m wearing it around my neck, but pinned with a small dangle-y earring. I just love it. 🙂
